Blue, White, and Gold in Quiet Harmony
A refreshing blue surface is dotted with snow-like white speckles. Looking inside, a quiet golden glow and gentle brilliance harmonize, creating a piece of refined elegance.
Though it resembles an ochoko for serving sake, it is slightly larger in size. It can be enjoyed as a guinomi, or used as a modest cup for tea.
Created by Hida-based ceramic artist Megumi Ichikawa.

Drawing inspiration from a deep sense of reverence born through engagement with nature and history, the artist translates the sensibilities and aesthetic values cultivated in Japanese culture into ceramic form. By honoring the inherent texture and strength of each material, the work seeks to create vessels that integrate seamlessly into contemporary life, a practice pursued with care and consistency each day.
Please Note:
Microwave Use: Not microwave-safe.
Cleaning: Hand wash only. Do not use a dishwasher.
Glaze crackles (kannyū) are not flaws or damage to the piece.
They are a natural feature of Japanese ceramics, caused by differences in shrinkage between the glaze and the clay during firing. In Japanese aesthetics, these lines are valued as part of the vessel’s evolving character, gaining depth and beauty over time.
Please enjoy this quiet, poetic quality as part of the work.
